Version 4.0 of Paradym-31, Intellution's Windows NT-based softlogic controller is now available with "one-step" integration to FIX, the company's technically advanced, easy-to-use industrial automation software. The announcement was made during National Manufacturing Week, March 10-13, McCormick Place Complex, Chicago.

Paradym-31 is the first industrial software to provide complete hard real-time control in a single, easy-to-use package. It is ideal for users looking for a cost-effective way to capture, control, and distribute data from the plant floor and to business systems located throughout the plant.

Paradym-31 and FIX are tightly integrated right out of the box. The software's one step integration eliminates the need to re-define tags in FIX, reduces programming errors, and cuts engineering and maintenance time and costs over PLCs as much as 40 percent -- all while providing access to FIX's powerful built-in capabilities, such as integrated graphics, alarming, trending, networking, and reporting. Paradym-31 is the only soft logic product available that provides hard real-time (deterministic) control capability on Windows NT without the need to run another operating system. At 100 microseconds, its scan frequency is the fastest in the industry.

Two versions of the software-Paradym -- 31 Standard and Paradym-31 Professional -- are available with one step integration to FIX on Windows NT. The software's true client/server architecture enables server and client applications to reside on the same or distributed computers, while their extremely open design allows them to be easily integrated with other applications. Highly scaleable, Paradym-31 is ideal for a wide variety of applications, from single controller to the largest distributed systems. All versions use the same database structure with all I/O drivers in every version. All Paradym-31 drivers are available at no cost with the package.

Paradym-31 Basic is a third version which provides soft logic control without MMI capability. Paradym-31 is designed to provide maximum flexibility for OEMs to configure the software to match individual hardware requirements.

Paradym-31 uses an open-architecture, IEC1131-3-based graphical programming environment. It enables users to develop, simulate, and monitor a control program quickly and easily. Programs can be written in any combination of IEC1131-3 languages (Sequential Function Charts, Relay Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram) and can reside on any number of target platforms, such as dedicated controllers or single-board, in addition to PCs.

FIX is the industry's leading distributed, client/serer system for Microsoft-Windows-based platforms. Based on a pure, "peer-to-peer" client-server system, FIX offers full-pre-emptive multitasking under Windows, Windows 95 and Windows NT. Multitasking allows operators to perform multiple tasks, such as opening files and printing reports simultaneously, without jeopardizing vital data collection and alarming features. FIX software also allows the sharing of data easily and directly with relational databases.
