Intellon Showcases World's First HomePlug(R) AV Integrated Circuit at CES; Widely Anticipated No New Wires(R) IC Based on 200Mbps HomePlug AV Specification Enables Instant Home Entertainment Networking Throughout the Digital Home.

LAS VEGAS Las Vegas (läs vā`gəs), city (1990 pop. 258,295), seat of Clark co., S Nev.; inc. 1911. It is the largest city in Nevada and the center of one of the fastest-growing urban areas in the United States.  -- Intellon Corporation, the global leader in HomePlug(R)-compatible integrated circuits Integrated circuits

Miniature electronic circuits produced within and upon a single semiconductor crystal, usually silicon. Integrated circuits range in complexity from simple logic circuits and amplifiers, about 1/20 in. (1.
(ICs) for home networking, networked entertainment and broadband-over-powerline (BPL See broadband over power lines. ) applications, is showcasing the world's first IC based on the 200Mbps HomePlug AV See HomePlug.  specification at the 2006 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, January 5-8.

Intellon will demonstrate the new INT6000 IC at Booth 31850, in South Hall 3 of the Las Vegas Convention Center The Las Vegas Convention Center is owned and operated by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority and is located in Clark County, Nevada. It is one of the largest Convention centers in the world. At the end of 2004, the center had 3. . In the demonstration, INT6000-based 200Mbps powerline/coax hybrid adapters will deliver two high-definition (HD) television streams from a home media server to two flat-panel displays using powerline and coax wiring.

Intellon leads the world in HomePlug IC sales and product enablement, with over three million HomePlug ICs already in use on six continents Six Continents is a large retail PLC in UK which split into Six Continents Retail known as Mitchells and Butlers plc. The hotels and soft drinks business of Six Continents PLC is now known as InterContinental Hotels Group PLC. . The new INT6000 IC enables multiple HD video and audio streams to be distributed over existing home powerlines, coaxial cable or other wiring and can be easily linked to Wi-Fi, UWB (Ultra-WideBand) A wireless technology that uses less power and provides higher speed than 802.11 Wi-Fi networks or first-generation Bluetooth products. UWB is expected to provide wireless video transmission for home theater systems, cable TV, auto safety and  and other home networks. With this installation flexibility and network ubiquity, the INT6000 offers the most convenient, cost-effective way to connect all of the content and entertainment components in the digital home, from PCs to set-top boxes to flat panel displays. Target markets for the INT6000 include broadband multimedia home networking, networked consumer electronics devices, IPTV (Internet Protocol TV) Also called "TV over IP," IPTV delivers scheduled TV programs and video-on-demand (VOD) via the IP protocol and digital streaming techniques used to watch video on the Internet. , video on demand (VoD) and audio content streaming, as well as multi-room satellite broadcasting and multi-room DVR (1) (Digital Video Recorder) A device that records video onto a hard disk from one or more ceiling mounted video cameras. Part of a security system, the DVR typically supports 4, 8 or 16 separate camera channels.  applications.

Other demonstrations of Intellon's HomePlug technology at CES include:

--European IPTV demo using devolo HomePlug 1.0 with Turbo adapters

--US IPTV demo using hybrid powerline/coax HomePlug 1.0 with Turbo adapters

--Lukwerks security camera demo with HomePlug 1.0 technology

--Sling Media demo using HomePlug 1.0 SlinkLink adapters

--Wisair ultra-wideband and powerline demo with UWB/HomePlug adapter

Based on the global HomePlug AV specification, the INT6000 includes robust quality of service (QoS) and built-in, 128-bit AES encryption. The IC is compatible with products based on the HomePlug 1.0 powerline communications specification, including Intellon's HomePlug 1.0 and 1.0 with Turbo ICs. The INT6000 will be submitted for HomePlug certification following the completion of the HomePlug Powerline Alliance's certification and interoperability standards for HomePlug AV.

Samples of the INT6000 IC and enablement tools will be available in the first quarter of 2006. Initial consumer products using the INT6000 IC are expected during the second quarter of 2006.
