, maintains that Tricom infringes on Intelli-Check's U.S. Patent No. 6,463,416 B1 for its state-of-the-art ID-CHECK technology relating to its authentication system for document identification. The Intelli-Check Complaint also maintains that Tricom induces infringement of the Intelli-Check patent on the part of Tricom's customers. In February, 2003, Intelli-Check sued California-based CardCom Technology, Inc. for patent infringement of its ID-CHECK technology. The lawsuit against CardCom was settled in June, 2003, when CardCom agreed to pay patent royalties to Intelli-Check for the use of some of its patented technology. The company also successfully pursued its patent infringement claims against IDentiScan, now a division of Intelli-Check, in a legal action that was resolved in December 2001.

Intelli-Check currently holds a number of domestic and foreign patents and has several others pending. Intelli-Check specifically maintains that Tricom is in violation of its U.S. Patent No. 6,463,416 B1, a continuation patent issued on Oct. 8, 2002. The technology described in the patent includes the ID-CHECK unit's capacity to validate the information encoded on all currently issued driver licenses and state-issued and military ID cards including those that conform to the uniform standards established by the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators The American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) is a non-governmental, voluntary, tax-exempt, nonprofit educational association.
