Intel Honors 25 Companies with Its Preferred Quality Supplier Award.

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 11, 2002

Intel Corporation today announced that 25 companies will receive the Preferred Quality Supplier (PQS PQS - Picture Quality Scale ) award for outstanding commitment to quality and performance excellence. These 25 suppliers provided products and services deemed essential to Intel's success in the year 2001. These companies exceeded high expectations and tough performance goals to distinguish themselves from the thousands of suppliers that worked with Intel last year. Winners will be honored at a ceremony in Burlingame, Calif., on March 13.

Award winning suppliers are: ChipPAC Inc.; Compaq Computer Corporation (company) Compaq Computer Corporation - The largest US manufacturer and vendor of IBM PC compatible personal computers and servers. Compaq was started in 1982 by three ex-Texas Instruments employees.

Quarterly sales $2499M, profits $210M (Aug 1994).

The PQS awards are part of Intel's Supplier Continuous Quality Improvement process that encourages suppliers to strive for excellence and continuous improvement. To qualify for PQS status, suppliers must score high on a report card that assesses performance and ability to meet cost, quality, availability, technology and responsiveness goals. Suppliers must also manage and deliver on a challenging improvement plan and a quality systems assessment. Intel will also recognize PQS award winners with an advertisement in the U.S., European and Asian editions of The Wall Street Journal on March 14.
