Standards-Based Development Kit Enables Creation of

Client IP Telephony Calling Applications

Intel Corporation's Dialogic subsidiary today announced the immediate availability of the Intel(R) Internet Phone Software Development Kit (SDK), a key building block technology that enables application developers and service providers to create robust, standards-based Voice-Over-IP (VoIP) calling solutions for their customers. The Intel Internet Phone SDK was developed by the Intel(R) Architecture Labs (IAL).

Using the SDK, application developers and service providers can easily integrate H.323 VoIP calling features and functions with existing Web-based business applications. This increases their ability to reach the market faster with new VoIP products such as contact center applications, which may ultimately strengthen their revenue stream as well as their ties to new and existing customers. Additional benefits include excellent voice quality via VoIP phone connections and the flexibility of PC-optimized support of Windows Driver Module, DirectSound and Wave audio.

Powerful Voice Solutions For The Internet

The Intel Internet Phone can be used to develop a broad range of H.323 compliant client phone applications. Contact center managers can use the Intel Internet Phone to extend their Customer Relationship Management (CRM), eCRM, helpdesk and call center applications. By adding VoIP features to agent desktops and using click-to-talk capabilities, customers can easily contact and talk directly with customer service agents using the same Internet connection from the company's Web page, even as they continue to browse.

Enterprises wishing to better use their existing LAN to avoid the toll charges associated with long-distance calling can use the SDK to build a user-friendly Internet phone client for each employee's desktop or laptop. Internet calling service providers can use the SDK to develop a VoIP phone client that they can offer as part of their service. Finally, H.323 gateway and gatekeeper application equipment providers can use the SDK to develop H.323 client phones to add to their product portfolios.
