AMERICAN FORK, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 27, 2000

Intel Corporation (company) Intel Corporation - A US microelectronics manufacturer. They produced the Intel 4004, Intel 8080, Intel 8086, Intel 80186, Intel 80286, Intel 80386, Intel 486 and Pentium microprocessor families as well as many other integrated circuits and personal computer networking  today released the Intel(R) LANDesk(R) Targeted Multicasting Software, new software distribution tools, based on IP multicast A one-to-many transmission of data over an IP network. It is used for a myriad of purposes including updating routers, announcing and discovering services and streaming media. IP multicast saves network bandwidth, because packets are transmitted as one stream over the backbone and only  technology. Intel also released Intel(R) LANDesk(R) Management Suite 6.4 and introduced Intel(R) LANDesk(R) Group Manager, a new product extending the management tools currently shipping on systems from original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

The new, patent-pending Intel LANDesk Targeted Multicasting Software speeds up the distribution of software over a network while reducing bandwidth consumption and removing the need to reconfigure To change the status of something.  routers. Software distribution saves time and money by automating the delivery of new applications, software patches, virus pattern updates or other programs, and eliminating the need to physically visit each PC or server.

"As organizations become more sophisticated, the need for next generation solutions to maintain those growing systems is critical," said Dave R. Taylor, director of marketing of Intel's Systems Management Division. "With the new tools we introduced today and the updates to the Intel LANDesk Management Suite product, customers now have the power to rapidly and efficiently service their increasingly intricate networks."

About Intel LANDesk Targeted Multicasting Software

The Intel LANDesk Targeted Multicasting Software transfers the entire software update once across the wide area network to a selected local system, which then sends the package using IP multicast technology to a targeted group of desktops or servers over the local area network. This method eliminates the additional network traffic generated by traditional software distribution products, which require an individual copy of the entire software update to be sent repetitiously across the wide area network to each desktop or server.

About Intel LANDesk Management Suite 6.4

The Intel LANDesk Targeted Multicasting Software is an optional software component for the Intel LANDesk Management Suite product, which was also updated today. With Intel LANDesk Management Suite, IT professionals can easily accomplish key tasks, such as distributing software applications and files, taking control of remote desktops to fix problems, helping make purchase decisions based on accurate hardware and software inventory, helping maintain compliance with software licenses In computing, software that is copyrighted and licensed under a software license is done under a variety of licensing schemes. Intel LANDesk Management Suite 6.4 brings together the Linux(1) support module, enhanced package builder and other updates released since version 6.3 shipped in June 1999. The new version also provides faster remote control, improved scalability, support for new versions of popular database applications and adds Microsoft Windows See Windows.
