Intel's New Chip.
Intel has renamed its high-end chip, preliminarily named Williamette, as Pentium 4, which will be the successor to Intel's Pentium III The successor to the Pentium II from Intel. The speed of the new Pentium 4 chip has not yet been disclosed but Intel officials had previously indicated that it would operate at speeds of at least 1.4 gigahertz. The new chip will be marketed beginning in September 2000.
