Integration Announces Silicon DAA Technology for Modem and VoIP Applications; Patented Isobridge(TM) Solution to Provide Basis for Portfolio of Products with Distinctive Price/Performance Advantages.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- Integration Associates, Inc., a pioneering provider of analog modem solutions, announced today that it plans to productize its silicon DAA technology to support a wide range of applications in high volume and high growth markets, such as PC modems, the FXO channel in VoIP applications, and embedded designs. IAI also plans to make this technology available for custom product development.

Silicon DAA products currently available for evaluation include versions with AC'97 and HD audio codec interfaces. Essentially, any application requiring connection to the PSTN is a candidate for the cost savings and full-featured performance represented by this technology. Integration's Isobridge silicon DAA products are designed to replace Integration's DAA2000, and to compete head-to-head with competitive silicon DAA products, such as CP Clare's Lite-Link, and comparable products from SiLabs.

Explaining the scope of value that Integration is prepared to deliver with respect to the overall price/performance package, VP Sales and Marketing Scott Parker said, "Given our extremely strong patent position in this area, and the fact that there are a very limited number of companies with this technology available, we expect Integration's silicon DAA family to be an enabling technology for a host of customers with modem and VoIP applications that have lacked access to silicon DAA in the past."

Typically, silicon DAA is implemented by means of a modem-side IC, a transformer, and a number of other line side discrete components. Integration's Isobridge solution, which delivers high voltage isolation by way of PCB capacitors without an opto-coupler or transformer, is a single chip, line-side silicon DAA that greatly reduces the bill of materials (at least 12% reduction on the BOM compared to existing solutions), while also providing very high RF immunity, very high voltage isolation, a host of features (caller ID/snoop mode, line-in-use detection, pulse dialing, etc), as well as a variety of programmable parameters for global telecom regulations compliance (FCC, CTR21, JATE, AUSTEL, all country PTTs).

Silicon DAA (Direct Access Arrangement) is a wireline technology that provides network interoperability/safety for modem devices -- the DAA maintains electrical characteristics comparable to a telephone connection, while delivering high voltage isolation between the network and the device's circuitry.
