See hardware key and PC Card dongle. . As an integral component of the ETSI certification, the ZigBee USB Dongle is now also fully ROHS (Reduction Of Hazardous Substances) European Union regulations enforceable on July 1, 2006 that set maximum concentration limits on hazardous materials used in electrical and electronic equipment.  compliant, conforming to the hazardous substance requirements regulations.

In light of these recent certifications, the dongle is available for OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  customization, and may also be used as an integral part of any IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, New York, www.ieee.org) A membership organization that includes engineers, scientists and students in electronics and allied fields.  802.15.4 / ZigBee network or as a test / commissioning tool to assist in the creation and debugging of new IEEE 802.15.4 / ZigBee products or networks. In addition, Integration has released an enhanced set of USB drivers which function in parallel with Microsoft's new Vista(TM) operating system, allowing developers to incorporate the USB Dongle with the new software package.

The Dongle may be purchased as part of the ZigBee Development Kit (IA DAUB-DK1 2400), which comprises of two IEEE 802.15.4 2.4GHz radios with USB interfaces as well as the drivers and example applications for rapid development. The IEEE 802.15.4 drivers enable the dongle to be connected to Windows, Linux and Apple based host systems. The dongle, when used in conjunction with the supplied certified ZigBee stack library, is the ideal platform of choice for developing ZigBee Network Capable and ZigBee logo products.

Having received these certifications, the USB Dongle is now in volume production with several major OEM customers, and can be purchased or shipped worldwide.

Scott Parker, VP of Sales and Marketing, said "It was key for us to achieve these certifications for the USB dongle to allow us to satisfy our OEM commitments and enable the dongle to enter true mass production. In addition, these certifications will allow us to proactively meet the demand for ZigBee solutions in countries that require these product certifications."
