Integrated Systems Ships ATM Toolkit; A Complete pSOS+ ATM solution -- advanced mechanisms make module a robust, exceptionally cost effective and easy-to-use ATM solution.SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 31, 1996--Integrated Systems today announced shipping of pATMIC, a complete pSOSystem ATM solution facilitating the design of ATM enabled set-top boxes, FRADs, multiplexers and routers. Anchored by the pSOS+ embedded real time operating system A master control program that can provide immediate response to input signals and transactions. See real time system and embedded Linux. , pATMIC includes a complete set of software modules for ATM, circuit emulation, frame relay, DXI and SMDS-DXI for the Motorola QUICC (MC68360) and PowerQUICC family of integrated communication processors. pATMIC provides a turn-key solution for low-speed ATM access (T1/E1) and related internetworking protocol support. It also simplifies entry into ATM by providing standard hardware solutions, and simplifies the design process by virtually implementing the entire system with a microprocessor chip and pSOSystem software. "pSOS+ is already firmly established as a high-performance platform for many of the industries leading ATM switch manufacturers, such as IBM, Thompson, Stratacom, and DSC," says Brian Ramsey, Integrated Systems senior product manager for networking and telecommunications. "Releasing pATMIC extends our `fast start toolkit' strategy into the low-speed, low-cost ATM market." ISI ISI International Sensitivity Index, see there has additional software initiatives in the area of ATM chip drivers, LAN emulation, ATM switching and signaling that will be released later this year. Standards support: The pATMIC modules fully implements the latest ATM Forum and ITU standard for the ATM User-Network-Interface (UNI). The three major adaptation layers, AAL-5, AAL-1 and AAL-3/4 are all implemented in a software segmentation and reassembly segmentation and reassembly - segmentation (SAR (Segmentation And Reassembly) The protocol that converts data to cells for transmission over an ATM network. It is the lower part of the ATM Adaption Layer (AAL), which is responsible for the entire operation. See AAL. SAR - segmentation and reassembly ) function using the QUICC and PowerQUICC serial communications controllers. In addition to ATM cell traffic, OAM and ILMI management cell are supported. The pATMIC modules support all common user access protocols (frame relay, ATM-DXI, FUNI, circuit emulation and voice), as well as multi protocol encapsulation and classical IP over ATM. These allow the pATMIC modules to be used in a wide variety of ATM applications where data may be interfacing from another type of network, or generated by the application code itself. Advanced mechanisms are provided for traffic shaping (UBR, CBR, VBR and ABR (1) (AutoBaud Rate detect) The analysis of the first characters of a message to determine its transmission speed and number of start and stop bits. (2) (Available Bit R ), prioritized traffic and diagnostics for debugging -- making the module a powerful, exceptionally cost effective and easy-to-use ATM solution. pSOSystem Architecture ISI provides the pSOSystem real-time operating system (operating system) Real-Time Operating System - (RTOS) Any operating system where interrupts are guaranteed to be handled within a certain specified maximum time, thereby making it suitable for control of hardware in embedded systems and other time-critical applications. and pRISM integrated cross development environment for designers of high performance embedded systems. The services provided by the pSOSystem environment include a scalable, component based architecture centered on the pSOS+ real-time kernel, fault tolerant multiprocessor support, file management services including support for MS-DOS, CD-ROM CD-ROM: see compact disc. Sophisticated integrated development and debugging tools are available for C and C++, including industry unique system and task level debug modes and a visual analyzer and debug tool. Pricing and Availability The domestic pricing of the pATMIC development kits starts at $60,000 for the Motorola MPC (1) (Mobile PC) A handheld or laptop computer.
