Alaskan ACTS currently utilizes 120 of the P4BE AIS pods shared between Elmendorf AFB and Eielson AFB. The GPS-based pods are dual purpose because they operate a legacy Air Combat Maneuvering Instrumentation (ACMI) range, as well as record all mission data. Design modifications to the P4BE transponder will be compatible with other ACTS legacy airborne systems in the Air Force inventory including the P4B and P4G.
