Insurance brokers: ranked by 2003 L.A. County revenues.EXECUTIVE SUMMARY WITH rising premiums, tighter policy writing and an improving investment market, the insurance industry is picking up. And insurance brokerages are benefiting from the gains. The 15 largest insurance brokerages in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. County saw a 9.8 percent increase in revenues in 2003, to $655.9 million, a slightly slower pace than the 11.2 percent increase between 2001-2002. Armstrong/Robitaille Business & Insurance Services debuted on the list at No. 15, with $13 million in L.A. County revenues. The Fullerton-based brokerage BROKERAGE, contracts. The trade or occupation of a broker; the commissions paid to a broker for his services. posted the largest gain on the list, with a 62.5 percent increase in local revenues compared to the year previous: Willis Wil·lis , Thomas 1621-1675. Risk & Insurance Services of Los Angeles moved up two places to No. 8. A small rural village until World War II, it developed significantly in the second half of the 20th cent. THE PACESETTER AON CORP. AON Corp. retained its status as the largest insurance broker in Los Angeles County for the fifth consecutive year. Local revenues were up 1.7 percent in 2003, to $165.3 million. Los Angeles is the headquarters of Aon's western region, which covers 11 western states. The three L.A. County offices, specializing in construction, entertainment, health care and technology, account for roughly half of the region's revenues Chicago-based Aon restructured its local health care unit in 2003, moving part of its practice out into the region in order to provide better representation, according to according to prep. 1. See PDC and trust relationship. Cargill Cargill, Incorporated is a privately held, multinational corporation, and is based in the state of Minnesota in the United States. It was founded in 1865, and has grown into the world's second largest privately held corporation (in terms of revenue). , resident managing director for L.A. County. Cargill noted that revenues would have shown an 8 percent increase if the segment had not been changed. Despite the restructuring restructuring - The transformation from one representation form to another at the same relative abstraction level, while preserving the subject system's external behaviour (functionality and semantics). , L.A. County offices added 124 people compared to last year, for 1,114 people locally. Cargill chalked up the growth to increased hiring in the company's Los Angeles service center. Construction and entertainment were the most active areas locally during 2003, with technology showing signs of coming around as the economy improves. Price increases also slowed in 2003, with Cargill expecting further price relief as the marketplace gets more competitive. "Comparatively speaking from last year, 2002 can be characterized char·ac·ter·ize tr.v. character·ized, character·iz·ing, character·iz·es 1. To describe the qualities or peculiarities of: characterized the warden as ruthless. 2. as the worst in a generation," said Cargill. "In 2003 it improved but there were still (price) increases and for 2004 we see a more competitive marketplace with decreases." Barring a terrorist attack or natural disaster, Cargill expects double-digit dou·ble-dig·it adj. Being between 10 and 99 percent: double-digit inflation. growth in L.A.
