New West Yorkshire branch president

Peter Wood FCMA, the retiring branch president of the West Yorkshire branch, recently presented the badge of office to incoming president Mohammed Rashid FCMA at the Kirstall Abbey Museum in Leeds. Rashid was also presented with his certificate of fellowship. He has served on the branch committee since 1991, with five years as branch secretary. In 1996, he was awarded the institute plaque in recognition of his contribution to CIMA.

Christine Carr gains institute plaque

Christine Carr ACMA was awarded the institute plaque at the recent West Yorkshire bra ach AGM. Carr is a long-serving member of the West Yorkshire committee.

Myanmar 

A total of 63 participants from multinational, regional and local companies recently attended the inaugural CIMA CPD event at the Convention Hall of the International Business Centre in Yangon. The event, which took place as part of CIMA's Global Business Management Week, attracted finance managers, financial controllers, accountants and general managers from many sectors, including banking, property development and education. Members of the local CPA association and the Myanmar Accountancy Council also attended.

Jakarta 

The second of The three CPD programmes agreed between the Indonesian Institute of Accountants (IIA) and CIMA was held on 12 September. The three-session programme was conducted by Bruce Riley FCMA FCA. Of the 61 attendees, 10 were company directors and 35 were working at management level.

Climate change--the next steps

Managing the risk of fraud
