Insignia Solutions (Nasdaq:INSG), the leading provider of accelerated Java software solutions for information appliances, announced today that its channel partner Lineo(TM), Inc., a leading innovator in embedded systems, real-time and high availability solutions, has created a new open standards platform based on Java and Linux that includes Insignia's Jeode virtual machine technologies. The new software platform, Embedix Plus for Smart Handheld Devices, will incorporate Jeode technology with Lineo's Embedix SDK, Trolltech AS's Qt/Embedded(TM) graphical user interface and Opera Software AS's Opera 5 for Linux Web browser. The platform has been developed to provide manufacturers with a complete solution to more quickly produce smart handheld devices, PDAs and other information appliances.
