Inovise Medical Announces Introduction of New Portable AUDICOR(R) 200 Designed for Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Community.

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Inovise Medical, Inc. announced the introduction of AUDICOR(R) 200, the company's next-generation combination heart sound and electrocardiogram electrocardiogram /elec·tro·car·dio·gram/ (-kahr´de-o-gram?) a graphic tracing of the variations in electrical potential caused by the excitation of the heart muscle and detected at the body surface.  technology intended for the diagnosis of heart failure and acute myocardial infarctions by paramedics.

Weighing less than a pound, the new portable AUDICOR(R) 200 is the first diagnostic to help paramedics solve one of their most challenging problems -- the confident diagnosis of shortness-of-breath in patients with subtle signs and symptoms of heart failure -- a situation exacerbated by the limited availability of diagnostic tools. Pre-hospital diagnosis of heart failure is especially difficult in the presence of symptoms associated with respiratory diseases. Studies report the diagnosis of heart failure by paramedics is missed in 46% of heart failure patients.

"AUDICOR(R) helps our paramedics more quickly and confidently identify acute decompensated heart failure and acute ischemia -- especially when other signs and symptoms cloud the diagnosis. We believe this new technology will lead to earlier identification and appropriate treatment for patients -- much as the use of the pre-hospital 12-lead electrocardiogram expedited reperfusion re·per·fu·sion

Dr. Tober is an acknowledged leader in helping introduce innovative technology into pre-hospital care. Under Dr. Tober's leadership, the National Association of EMS and the state of Florida have recognized CCEMS as the Nation's and the state of Florida's #1 EMS provider.

Currently, 4.9 million Americans have heart failure and 550,000 new cases are diagnosed each year. Eighty percent of heart failure patients who go to emergency rooms are admitted for inpatient care inpatient care Managed care Services delivered to a Pt who needs physician care for > 24 hrs in a hospital , many of which arrive via emergency vehicles. Studies show accurate diagnosis and appropriate therapy in the pre-hospital environment lead to decreased mortality.

Research is emphasizing the diagnostic and prognostic role of the third heart sound (S3). In presence of heart failure symptoms, S3 is a highly specific indicator of left ventricular dysfunction ventricular dysfunction,
