InoStor launches new LTO Ultrium tape drives and autoloaders.


InoStor, a Tandberg Data Tandberg Data (OSE: TAD) is a company focused on data storage products, especially streamers, headquartered in Oslo, Norway. They are the only company still selling drives that use the QIC format (also known as SLR), but also produce VXA, LTO and DLT products, along with  Company, announced today that it has expanded its line of tape-based drives and autoloaders. Available this month, the company has added two new LTO-based tape drives and three new LTO-based autoloaders.

InoStor will offer both LTO-2 and LTO-1 tape drives with up to 400GB capacity and 200GB capacity, respectively, in a compressed mode. Based on the Ultrium format of LTO technology, these enterprise-class drives provide affordable data protection to medium and large businesses. The InoStor LTO tape drives deliver best-in-class performance with back-up speeds of up to 245GB/hour* in the LTO Ultrium 2 version. Advanced features include SmartVerify which concurrently verifies all data written to the tape, eliminating the need for a verify pass during back-up operations, and Dynamic Powerdown which protects both the cartridge and mechanics in the event of a power loss during normal operation. Three new autoloaders based on LTO Ultrium technology are slated for launch in January; the InoStor 8 cartridge LTO8200 and LTO8100, both in a compact 2U full-rack form factor, and a LTO-2 version of InoStor's popular Tandberg LTO 10 cartridge, 4U half-rack autoloader.

The LTO8200 autoloader delivers storage capacity of up to 3.2TB with an incredibly fast transfer rate of 244 GB/hr. The LTO8100 autoloader provides 1.6TB compressed capacity with a transfer rate of 115GB/hr. Business-critical information is protected with a powerful, automated system that installs in minutes.
