Innovative device seen reducing airborne pollution in buildings.

If you're worried about air pollution in your home or office, you're right to be very concerned. If you're not worried about airborne contaminants airborne contaminants,

that are commonly found indoors, you should be.

Genesis Air has come up with a new and innovative approach to eradicating much of the pollution that is commonly found in homes and offices. This pollution is associated with nasal congestion, breathing difficulties, skin rashes, poor health in general. Environmental authorities say it can cause allergy attacks, as well as asthma.

uses ultraviolet light to destroy and neutralize microorganisms and to activate a chemical process that removes toxic compounds, neutralizes odors, and vaporizes organic matter.

The new device, through the use of ultraviolet light, does far more to eradicate indoor air pollution than common filters and humidifiers do.

Ultraviolet light, to the kind that Genesis Air Photocatalysis uses to combat airborne contamination, has been employed for years in hospitals and critical situations to kill bacteria, viruses, and other contaminants.

Extensive testing has indicated that Genesis Air Photocatalysis can combat a wide variety of infectious organisms. There are some indications that the ultraviolet light, streaming from this innovative system, may have been effective in combating the SARS epidemic that plagued portions of Ontario in Canada and parts of China last year.

Genesis Air, which was incorporated in January 2003, has brought together experienced professionals in the fields of engineering Engineering is a collective term to describe the application of scientific theory in the design, creation, and maintenance of technology. Something as common as a central air-conditioner can become a breeding ground for mold, mildew, and other contaminants, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), independent agency of the U.S. government, with headquarters in Washington, D.C. The EPA found, in 2000, that poor indoor air quality Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) deals with the content of interior air that could affect health and comfort of building occupants. The IAQ may be compromised by microbial contaminants (mold, bacteria), chemicals (such as carbon monoxide, radon), allergens, or any mass or energy stressor  can reduce a person's ability to perform specific mental tasks. The EPA, in another study, found that 6 out of 10 homes and buildings are hazardous to their occupants because or air pollution.

The Word Health Organization (WHO) has estimated that up to 30 percent of office buildings may have airborne contaminants that pose significant health risks to workers.

Finally, a new approach to eradicating indoors contaminants could significantly reduce the nation's asthma rate, which has increased by 300 percent in the last 20 years.

A new medical study has attributed nearly 100 percent of infections to mold, a major contaminant contaminant /con·tam·i·nant/ (kon-tam´in-int) something that causes contamination.
