, Tinker Air Force Base, OK, has selected Innovative Solutions and Support (ISSC) to replace the central air data computers in its fleet of A-10 "Warthog" aircraft.

All USAF A-10 aircraft (approximately 370 a/c) will be upgraded with form fit and function Central Air Data Computer using high stability sensors and state of the art surface mount electronics that greatly increase system reliability and enhance mission preparedness. ISSC has previously designed and developed a Solid State Barometric Altimeter (SSBA SSBA - Suite Synthetique des Benchmarks de l'AFUU ) for the A-10 and other military aircraft.

The A-10 is a twin engine, low altitude ground attack aircraft A ground-attack aircraft is an aircraft that is designed to operate in direct support of ground forces such as infantry, tanks and other fighting vehicles. Their use is therefore tactical rather than strategic, operating at the front of the battle rather than against targets deeper  used in a close air support missions. Because of its design and mission, the avionics products are called upon to withstand extremely high vibration, shock and High Intensity Radiated Fields (HIRF HIRF High Intensity Radiated Field

In a statement made today a Company spokesperson said that being selected by the USAF for this "critical mission aircraft" requirement was rewarding and that it provided the Company with an opportunity to support the Country's defense efforts.

In the past, Innovative Solutions has successfully completed military air data upgrades on several airplanes, including C-130, KC-135, F-16 and F-5's. Delivery of the A-10 multi million-dollar award of Central Air Data Computers will begin in this year's 3rd quarter.

ISSC (www.innovative-ss.com) is a leading Air Data Instrument and RVSM RVSM Reduced Vertical Separation Minimums/Minima (aircraft)  retrofit supplier to the military, commercial air transport, and business aviation markets.

It has fitted approximately 1500 RVSM systems to various aircraft types and is poised to support all operators in meeting the forthcoming RVSM program demands in Canada and the US, as it has done for previous RVSM implementations in Europe, the Western Atlantic, North Atlantic and Australia.
