The patent-pending time-released formulation protects the boric acid from dissolving in water and maintains the integrity of the pesticide to obtain maximum killing effect. The EPA-approved RoachX will be the first product to launch from the line. RoachX is over 96% effective in three to four days with one application for indoor/outdoor eradication of cockroaches. Innovative Medical Services sees a key window of opportunity to launch these new products. On June 8, 2000, the United States EPA EPA eicosapentaenoic acid.

banned the Dow Chemical product Dursban (also sold as Lorsban). Over 800 products containing the organophosphate pesticide chlorpyrifos are banned. Sales of such products to retailers ends Feb. 1, 2001, and retailers must remove the products from shelves by Dec. 31, 2001. The most familiar of the products currently containing the banned chemical include: Raid, Combat, Hot Shot, Ortho and Real Kill, including all sprays and foggers. The current formulations are also banned for commercial and agriculture professionals as of Dec. 31, 2000. Professional pest control companies must use a 100 to 1 diluted version of the current product strength and obtain a waiver of responsibility from the home or business owner. By June 6, 2001, the product must undergo a further 10 to 1 dilution, creating a 1000 to 1 diluted treatment that is essentially ineffective.

Larry Lucas, Innovative Medical Services' Vice President of Sales, commented, "I'm excited to add another top-notch, health-conscious product to our growing product line. More and more, consumers seek alternatives to harsh poisons currently available for pest control. Because of the push for safe, environmentally-friendly products and the recent ban of currently available products, the timing couldn't be better for us to get RoachX on retail shelves and in commercial use across the nation."

Boric acid is registered as a Class III pesticide. Class I and Class II are toxic, restricted use pesticides. Within Category III, the EPA rates pesticides on a scale of one to 10, with one being the least toxic. Boric acid is rated at minus one (-1). Although toxic to the target pest, boric acid is safe for use near children and domestic animals when used as directed and is harmless to the environment.
