DeAngelis Named Vice President at Premier Ink

Premier Ink Systems, Inc., announced it has named Don DeAngelis as its vice president of western operations for water and solvent packaging inks. His responsibilities will include managing Premier's western sales operations as well as its manufacturing plant in San Diego, CA.

Before joining Premier Ink, Mr. DeAngelis most recently served as western sales manager for Flint Ink. Prior to that, he worked at INX and spent 20 years with Inmont Corp., where he served in a variety of positions.

Clark Joins Color Resolutions as Sales Manager

Color Resolutions International LLC announced the appointment of Steven C. Clark as western sales manager. Color Resolutions is the organization formed for the printing ink business acquired from Borden Chemical last year.

Mr. Clark will be in charge of Color Resolutions' lines of printing inks sold in the west to corrugators and other package printers as well as its UV-cured rigid packaging inks and other specialty products.

Mr. Clark comes to the company after a 25-year career in the graphic arts industry. Most recently, he was northwest field manager for INX International.

Hockmeyer Names Two New Sales Managers

Ignazio "Sonny" DiGirolamo has joined Hockmeyer Equipment Corporation as the new southeast regional sales manager with an office in Elizabeth City, NC. His sales territory includes North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Florida. Mr. DiGirolamo was employed for many years at Leslie Controls, and most recently at DeZurik as the southwest regional sales manager.

Hockmeyer also named Jay Hamilton the new northeast regional sales manager with an office in Springfield, MA. His sales territory includes Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine and a portion of New York. Prior to joining Hockmeyer, Mr. Hamilton was employed by Kodak Polychrome Graphics as a process engineering manager.

Degussa Names New President, Marketing Manager

Thomas Hermann has been announced the new president of the coatings and colorants business unit of Degussa AG as of July 1. The 38-year-old engineer replaced Dr. Klaus Burzin.

Degussa also announced that Walter Magee has been named marketing manager for the Aerosil fumed silica product line. He is responsible for marketing fumed silica to makers of silicone, glass precursors, ink jet media, optical fibers, defoamer chemicals and dispersions for the semi-conductor industry and other markets.

Sumner Appointed Managing Director at Rockwood

Princeton, NJ-based Rockwood Specialties, Inc. announced the appointment of Vernon S. Sumner to the position of managing director of the specialty producer's clay-based additives division. Mr. Sumner will also serve as president of Southern Clay Products, Inc., Rockwood's U.S.-based rheologicals manufacturer. His responsibilities will include managing the company's clay-based additives businesses, including Southern Clay Products, Inc., Rockwood Additives Ltd. and Rockwood Specialties Pte Ltd. Mr. Sumner joins Rockwood from Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., where he served in several executive roles during his 27 years there.

EIC Names Sasaki Senior Account Manager

Glenn Sasaki has joined Environmental Inks & Coatings in Los Angeles, CA. Mr. Sasaki, a 23-year veteran of the ink and printing industries, will focus on the rapidly expanding UV printing industry.

He earned his bachelor's degree in business administration/management from California University, Long Beach, CA.

Thesken Moves Into Sales Role at Hunter

Hunter Associates Laboratory, Inc. announced that Mark Thesken has joined its sales team. Mark will represent Hunter Lab products and services in all of Ohio and Michigan as well as sections of Indiana, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Omnova Promotes Dray to VP

Omnova Solutions has promoted Larry Dray to vice president, strategic sourcing. He will be responsible for all raw material purchasing for the company, as well as supply and service contracts.

Wolff Cellulosics Names Kuske Marketing Manager

Dr. Peter Kuske has taken over as manager of the inks and coatings marketing department at Wolff Cellulosics. Mr. Kuske's responsibilities include product and marketing strategies. His first assignment will be to launch free-flowing walsroder nitrocellulose packed cartons.

Wolff Cellulosics is the competence center for cellulose chemistry within the Bayer Group. Its cellulose derivatives are used as raw materials for printing inks and coatings and as additives for building materials.

Several Changes at Sun Chemical's Colors Group

Scott Jacobson has been appointed corporate vice president and group managing director of the Colors Group at Sun Chemical Corporation, reporting to Peter Ludwig, executive vice president and general manager. He also will continue to perform his current responsibilities in the company's global cosmetics business.

Mr. Jacobson will assume responsibility for managing business relative to Sun's North American merchant ink sales, fluorescent pigments and Predisol preparations manufactured in New Brunswick, NJ. Mr. Jacobson has been with Sun Chemical since 1984.

Sun Chemical Corporation also appointed David Thompson corporate vice president of the Colors Group, reporting to Mr. Ludwig.

In this new position, Mr. Thompson is responsible for the North American operations of Sun Chemical's pigments business within both the pigments and dispersions divisions. Mr. Thompson joined Sun Chemical in 1977.

Maurice M. Carruthers has been named vice president and general manager of the Sun Chemical's Colors Group. He is responsible for Sun's North American merchant ink business, and will report to Mr. Jacobson. Mr. Carruthers joined Sun Chemical in 1976.
