The LSR 2010 vertical liquid silicone injection molding machine is said to meet the unique requirements of micro-LSR molding applications with dependable shot size repeatability and accuracy, and flash limited molding when using precision molds. The streamlined, small footprint LSR 2010 is said to be designed with efficiency, stable production process and space considerations in mind, and focuses on quick changeover and small part injection with options for larger shot sizes. The LSR 2010 is said to be especially well-suited for implantables, insert and over molding, as well as other medical applications. The patented micro injection technology was originally developed for IOL (intraoccular lens) manufacturing. The injection design is said to greatly reduce the amount of material waste, as there is no barrel screw used. The machine is non-hydraulic and least likely to cause contamination in cleanrooms or products, according to the manufacturer. Primary enhancements incorporated in the LSR 2010 design include vertical injection rather than horizontal, and adaptation to standard molds up to 8" x 8". (Kuntz Mfg.)
