Injectable vocal fold implant.


BioForm Medical, Inc., manufactures synthetic injectable fillers used for vocal fold augmentation: Radiesse[TM] for durable improvement, and Radiesse Voice Gel[TM] for short-term treatment. Radiesse is marketed worldwide for vocal fold augmentation, craniofacial craniofacial /cra·nio·fa·cial/ (kra?ne-o-fa´sh'l) pertaining to the cranium and the face.

Radiesse is a synthetic, injectable implant composed of calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres, which have a diameter range of 25 to 45 [micro]m, suspended in an aqueous gel carrier. These consistently shaped and sized particles have proven safe and biocompatible biocompatible /bio·com·pat·i·ble/ (-kom-pat´i-b'l) being harmonious with life; not having toxic or injurious effects on biological function. , allowing gradual tissue growth for a long-lasting augmentation effect.
