Ingrian Networks Unveils Support for Oracle Database 10g Appliance-Based Solution Increases Data Privacy.

REDWOOD CITY Redwood City, city (1990 pop. 66,072), seat of San Mateo co., W Calif., on San Francisco Bay; inc. 1868. Manufactures include commmunications, electrical, electronic, and medical equipment. , Calif. -- Ingrian(TM) Networks, Inc., the leading provider of data privacy solutions and partner in the Oracle(R) PartnerNetwork, today announced the release of software that lets organizations securely and efficiently manage the encryption of sensitive information in an Oracle(R) Database -- without disrupting the applications tied to that database. With this new software release, Ingrian DataSecure(TM) Platforms can now be integrated with Oracle Database 10g, as well as Oracle8i Database and Oracle9i Database, via standard interfaces.

DataSecure provides an intelligent, cost-effective way to protect data throughout an enterprise. As a result, organizations can better ensure that they are compliant with legislative and policy mandates for security, and eliminate the risks of a breach. Ingrian's breakthrough solution features dedicated hardware appliances A device that is dedicated to a specific function in contrast to a general-purpose computer. The hardware comes pre-installed with its operating system and application. Many consider the router to be the first network appliance.  and patent-pending cryptography software.

With Ingrian, organizations can offload To remove work from one computer and do it on another. See cooperative processing.  cryptographic processing, key management, and security logging and auditing from Oracle databases onto Ingrian's network-based hardware appliances -- delivering significant benefits in manageability and scalability. This new release of the Ingrian DataSecure Platform offers an array of features:

--Capabilities that automate the integration process -- stored procedures In a database management system (DBMS), it is an SQL program that is stored in the database which is executed by calling it directly from the client or from a database trigger. When the SQL procedure is stored in the database, it does not have to be replicated in each client.  and functions to encrypt and decrypt To convert secretly coded data (encrypted data) back into its original form. Contrast with encrypt. See plaintext and cryptography.  data on demand from inside the database, migrate plaintext columns to encrypted columns, and automate subsequent encrypt and decrypt operations.

--Capabilities for encrypting sensitive data in databases at the column level -- so data such as credit card numbers, social security numbers, passwords, account balances, and email addresses See Internet address.  can be secured.

--Centralized key management in a secure network appliance (1) A specialized device for use on a network. For example, Web servers, cache servers and file servers can be implemented as general-purpose computers with the appropriate software or as network appliances, which are computers dedicated to a single function and cannot do anything .

--Comprehensive logging, auditing, and administration capabilities for all cryptographic operations performed in Oracle Databases.

--Robust authentication (1) Verifying the integrity of a transmitted message. See message integrity, e-mail authentication and MAC.

(2) Verifying the identity of a user logging into a network.
and authorization capabilities to allow only authorized access for decrypting sensitive data.

--Complete transparency to application infrastructure, minimizing integration time.

--Tightly coupled integration with Oracle user security.

"By supporting Oracle's flagship database product, we're providing customers in a range of industries with an effective way to safeguard sensitive data," said Karim Toubba, Ingrian's vice president of product management and marketing. "As organizations across regions and industries contend with increasingly costly breaches and rigorous privacy legislation, we're seeing a corresponding increase in demand for our solutions. This release will help set the stage for broadened deployments among Oracle's large customer base."
