Infowave Collaborates With Adobe Systems on Adobe PrintGear Macintosh Drivers.


BURNABY, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 18, 1997-- Infowave Wireless Messaging Inc, a leader in printer driver software, announced today its collaboration with Adobe Systems Adobe Systems Incorporated (pronounced a-DOE-bee IPA: /əˈdoʊbiː/) (NASDAQ: ADBE) (LSE: ABS) is an American computer software company headquartered in San Jose, California, USA.  on the development of Macintosh printer drivers for Adobe PrintGear. Adobe PrintGear is an exciting new printing architecture that brings powerful Adobe imaging technology to low-priced laser and color inkjet printers A printer that propels droplets of ink directly onto the medium. Today, almost all inkjet printers produce color. Low-end inkjets use three ink colors (cyan, magenta and yellow), but produce a composite black that is often muddy. . PrintGear is designed to address the needs of small office and small workgroup users.

Infowave's Imaging Group has developed these custom Macintosh drivers for Adobe PrintGear by leveraging off its proprietary PowerPrint technology. PowerPrint is an award winning software and hardware combination that allows Macintosh computers to use a PC compatible printer. The product is sold worldwide and enjoys a 90 percent share of the market.

PrintGear's performance and quality is largely due to Adobe's 60MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc.  PrintGear imaging processor, a dedicated, highly integrated, rendering processor. This technology delivers speed, quality and network connectivity, all at breakthrough costs to the user.

Infowave's Imaging Group is currently upgrading the Macintosh PrintGear drivers for use with the next release of PrintGear's firmware A category of memory chips that hold their content without electrical power. Firmware includes flash, ROM, PROM, EPROM and EEPROM technologies. When holding program instructions, firmware can be thought of as "hard software."
