Infoseek Selects SPYRUS-R SSL Development Toolkit.

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 7, 1998--SPYRUS(R), a leading provider of high-assurance public key-based digital security solutions, today announced that its SecureWeb Toolkit(tm) has been selected by Infoseek(tm). The advanced electronic transaction security capabilities of SecureWeb will enable Infoseek to enhance the Ultraseek(tm) Server search and navigation software it licenses to companies for their own intranet, extranet and Internet sites.

"Infoseek's largest enterprise customers want to use our Web-crawling server technology along with security capabilities like encryption and access control," said Andrew Feit, General Manager, Software Division for Infoseek. "We chose to use the SPYRUS SecureWeb toolkit because it has proven, ready-to-use SSL and S-HTTP S-HTTP Secure Hyper Text Transport Protocol  capabilities. Instead of taking the time to recruit, train, and become experts ourselves, we were able to start right away. We turned man-months into man-days, which gave us a big edge in achieving our aggressive time-tables."

"Interest in Web security is increasing daily, which makes a good market opportunity for our Ultraseek search servers as well as Spyrus' development tools," continued Mr. Feit.

Ultraseek Server 2.0, introduced last year, provides powerful search and index capabilities and is now installed at over 500 large corporate, government and educational sites worldwide. That number continues to grow as businesses realize the benefits Ultraseek provides, and in many cases are ditching well-known search tools in favor of Ultraseek's second-generation technology that offers greater scalability, speed, and ease-of-use.

The SPYRUS SecureWeb Toolkit was the first commercial product available for implementing SSL and S-HTTP. Since its introduction in 1995, it has become the industry's most widely used software solution for adding secure electronic commerce features to Internet and Intranet systems.

In addition to tested, ready-to-use implementations of SSL and S-HTTP, the SecureWeb Toolkit provides developers with a complete solution including a secure key database, a certificate management system, and the RSA (1) (Rural Service Area) See MSA.

Data Security(R) BSAFE(tm) cryptography engine. By integrating all of these capabilities, the SecureWeb Toolkit delivers one-stop shopping for developers. This saves significant time for SPYRUS' clients due to the complex development and rigorous testing required to implement a reliable, security-enabled communications application.
