Informix(R) Corporation (Nasdaq:IFMX), the technology leader in enterprise database-powered solutions, today announced the closing of more than a dozen transactions worldwide of its i.Informix solutions.

Among Informix's second quarter wins are leading companies with innovative applications that bring Internet commerce to new levels of sophistication. For example, Neiman Marcus will be able to personalize the Internet shopping experience for its customers, and Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company will be able to offer improved service by automating the process for licensing brokers. The following is a description of companies that are becoming more competitive by implementing Informix' i.Sell(TM) and i.Reach(TM) solutions.

Informix i.Sell Solutions

Austrian Standards Institute, the managing and organizing body responsible for maintenance of standards activities in Austria, will use the i.Sell solution with Sun Enterprise 450, Solaris 7 to give its constituents 24 x 7 service and provide immediate access to order and receive Standards Institute products. These products include publications of technical specifications for an economic and ecological framework, used by over 270 technical committees of the European Committee for Standardization CEN and 180 technical committees of the International Organization for Standardization ISO, as well as 6,700 experts participating in the work.

Conforama (www.conforama.com), the oldest retailer in Europe for furnishings and electronic goods, will use the i.Sell solution to gain a competitive edge in e-commerce by relying on i.Sell's sophisticated analytical merchandising capability. Conforama chose Informix over the competition because Informix offered an integrated solution with complete retail merchandising and one-to-one marketing capabilities and because of the fixed price proposal developed by Informix implementation partner Fi System.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car (www.enterprise.com), the world's largest rental car agency, has selected Informix i.Sell to run its on-line operation of car rental and re-sale. The Informix's technology was chosen because it provides customers with more flexibility while choosing rental car options and because it optimizes fleet availability.

The Instituto Federal Electoral del Distrito Federal (IEDF) or Mexico City Federal Electoral Institute is a government agency in charge of voter registration, voter lists and electoral results. IEDF bought the i.Reach technology to assist with the consolidation of over 3,600 voting booths into 19. These booths will be connected to the IEDF's internal network where they will access standard information and other documents for the entire Mexican voting constituency of 20,000,000. The IEDF had previously employed an Oracle database for its application and is now using the Informix Dynamic Server(TM) with Universal Data Option(TM), DataDirector(TM) for Web, the Text DataBlade(R) module and the Web DataBlade module.

--   JC Whitney (www.jcwhitney.com), a leading direct-to-consumer
     supplier of automobile parts and accessories, selected i.Sell as
     the foundation for phatspeed.com, the company's on-line catalog
     for after-market performance parts and accessories for sport
     compact cars. JC Whitney will also leverage the database
     foundation of Informix i.Sell to ensure a dynamic Web site that
     can be updated on the fly to display current product information,
     order status and other constantly changing information.

--   MML Investors Services, Inc. (www.mmlisi.com), a Massachusetts
     Mutual Life Insurance Company (www.massmutual.com) offering
     investment and financial products and services, selected the
     Informix i.Sell e-commerce platform for the development and
     deployment of "MMLISI DIRECT," a business-to-business e-commerce
     application that expedites NASD broker licensing and
     registration. Scheduled to go live in October of 1999, MMLISI
     will run the Informix i.Sell application server on a custom
     Intel-based NT server, while the Informix i.Sell database will be
     driven by an IBM RS/6000 Enterprise Server S7A system running
     AIX. MMLISI also successfully deployed an Informix-based datamart
     in Q2 that supports a consolidated statement application giving
     5,200 field agents status information on over 700,000 accounts.

--   Neiman Marcus (www.neimanmarcus.com), a premier fashion and
     merchandise retailer, selected the Informix i.Sell e-commerce
     solution as a foundation for its full-service Website. Scheduled
     to launch by the end of September, the site marks Neiman Marcus'
     foray into personalized, Web-based sales for its entire catalog
     of fashion apparel and merchandise. Neiman Marcus will run the
     Informix i.Sell-powered site on an 8-processor IBM RS/6000 SP
     server.

--   Skechers (www.skechers.com), one of the world's hottest footwear
     companies, has chosen Informix i.Sell as the e-commerce solution
     to drive the company's online store. The system, running on
     multiple Sun Microsystems servers, will offer consumers 24 x 7
     access to Skechers' entire inventory. The system will be deployed
     in time for Skecher's next catalog drop in August of 1999.

Informix i.Reach Solutions

Informix i.Reach is a unique combination of database technology, application software and dedicated consulting services that allows customers to build a complete solution for managing enterprise information across intranet, extranet and Internet environments.

Hong Kong Hospital Authority (www.ha.org.hk) manages 38 public hospitals in Hong Kong and is responsible for the formulation of health policies. The Hospital Authority chose the i.Reach solution to provide electronic access to service information such as facilities for patient support groups and healthcare questions, as well as links to other health care-related sites and a mechanism for complaints/suggestions. The Internet site is a full-featured Web-based content repository in which content authors and managers from the Hospital Authority can create, approve, publish and maintain large amounts of information.

The Secretaria General de Comunicaciones is the government communications authority in Spain and manages all laws related to communications. It has purchased the Informix i.Reach solution to organize the administration and publication of documents and to provide greater access to the system. The Secretaria General de Comunicaciones' goal is to inform, with maximum reliability and promptness, all the information relative to the telecommunications market. Further, the i.Reach solution will assist with response to all the companies that request the approval of their systems.

     launched by the end of 1999 using the i.Reach solution and will
     include services such as dog licensing, property information and
     building permits.

     office that never closes, all rolled into one," said Informix

     notices unpin themselves when they become out of date, and you
     can see into all the council files remotely so you don't have to

Anexsys (www.anexsys.com), the Chicago-based advanced technology and intelligent solutions company formerly known as First Chicago Mercantile Services, will partner with Informix for the deployment of eNTRI - Doorway to Government Products and Services. This e-commerce application is based on i.Sell will be re-sold with other software and services to federal, state and local governments seeking the service improvements and operating efficiencies inherent in automated e-commerce solutions. ENTRI will be available as a turnkey application, as well as a service hosted by Anexsys on Hewlett Packard servers running Microsoft NT, in Q1 of 2000.

Reef(TM) (www.reef.com), the maker of an Internetware product suite offering a complete range of database-driven applications built on a multi-tiered Java architecture, has signed a worldwide agreement with Informix to enhance availability of its products on Informix technology.
