The company will also rely on other products in the Infonet portfolio, including Global Connect USA for expanded network coverage across all major business metros in the U.S. and DialXpressway, for dial-up remote access connectivity, to support its requirements. Due initially to its CRM implementation, JBL needed user-friendly, local number access for its remote users. Dawn Genian, director of Information Systems for JBL, wanted to utilize the company's existing infrastructure to create a more user-friendly environment to enhance their remote access capabilities. In addition, JBL management wanted the ability for traveling executives, sales and support staff to be able to set up local numbers ahead of time so that they could easily access corporate data and synchronize files once they reached their remote locations. JBL asked Infonet to propose such services while also evaluating offerings from other vendors. In selecting Infonet Genian stated, "Local city access and the easy interface that Infonet provided has made our users very happy." As JBL began implementing CRM, Genian came to appreciate Infonet's DialXpressway, an enhancement to Infonet's Remote Access Service that provides an easy-to-use graphical interface and the ability for users to provision access codes for the Infonet network. According to Genian the training went well but it would have been disastrous without DialXpressway: "DialXpressway gives JBL the power to define the parameters of our access codes, so we can exercise more control and lower our costs," she remarked. Under the Harman International umbrella are two other sister companies, Lexicon Inc. and Harman Music Group, that are also using the CRM system and Infonet's dial-up services -- and a third Harman company, Crown International, will also soon have access. "We have happy users and also the ability to cross-charge our sister organizations for their usage," Genian observed. As JBL proceeds to launch its e-commerce initiatives companywide, the company is relying on Infonet to provide the secure access these kinds of transactions require. During its Beta testing (programming) beta testing - Testing a pre-release (potentially unreliable) version of a piece of software by making it available to selected users. This term derives from early 1960s terminology for product cycle checkpoints, first used at IBM but later standard throughout the , JBL employees were able to test html screens for users without any security issues. "The entire project took us six weeks," stated Genian. "Thanks to Infonet, we were able to meet our timelines and 'go live' as planned," she concluded.
