Infocom becomes bicoastal with new New York office, names Fay Shapiro associate publisher.

Long entrenched in San Francisco's East Bay (Berkeley and now Emeryville), Jim Sinkinson's Infocom Group has now become bicoastal with the opening of an office in New York City. Sinkinson simultaneously announced that he has hired New Yorker Fay FAY - Fayetteville, NC, USA - Fayetteville Municipal (Airport Code)
FAY - Federación Argentina de Yachting
FAY - Fleet Activities Yokosukas (US Navy)
FAY - For All of You
Shapiro as associate publisher. She will head the New York office.

Infocom produces newsletters, directories, in-person and audio conferences and an awards program for the public relations industry. Its flagship newsletter, Bulldog Reporter, founded in 1979, began an Eastern Edition in 1990.

Shapiro only six months ago became publisher at Jack O'Dwyer's Newsletter, which also serves the public relations industry (see Publisher Profile, this issue). She has extensive contacts in the PR world, after working at MarketWire, Burrelle's/Luce, and Bacon's Information.

"We've done business with Fay for more than 15 years--but we've really been knocked out by her achievements in the PR industry," Jim Sinkinson said. "We welcome the chance to have Fay represent Bulldog Reporter's special brand of excellence to the PR community."

Specifically, Shapiro will handle sponsorships and exhibits for Bulldog Reporter's Media Relations Summit conferences, as well as special advertising and marketing opportunities associated with its Bulldog Awards for Excellence in Media Relations & Publicity and the brand's PR University audio conferences and training programs.

Jack O'Dwyer told NL/NL, "Fay did incredible work for us. She's a workaholic work·a·hol·ic (wûrk-hôlk)
n.
--12 hours a day. She staged two conferences for us and sold 160 pages of ads for our directories. But what I really need now is a circulation director."
