Infineon's C163-24D is entirely code-compatible with earlier C16x microcontroller designs, allowing migration to higher system performance with minimal investment in software development. The C163-24D comes in a TQFP See QFP. 100 package and is also pin compatible with other C163 and C165 microcontrollers from Infineon. A suite of development tools, including starter kits, in-circuit emulators and C-compilers is also available.
The IC is manufactured on a 0.35 micron process using Trench Capacitors, resulting in memory cells that are highly immune to noise and soft errors. A built-in embedded DRAM Test Controller (BIST BIST - Built-in Self Test ) is also integrated into its design. The BIST enables extensive testing of the embedded DRAM during manufacturing to assure its reliability.
Evaluation samples of the C163-24D are available now with volume production scheduled for Q3 1999. Unit price, in quantities of 10,000, is $8.25.
