Infineon's Stefan Hamacher Named Chairman of Magma Users Conference.

Looks Forward to Developing Technically Rich Program to Help Other Users for MUSIC 2007 in Silicon Valley

SANTA CLARA Santa Clara, city, Cuba
Santa Clara (sän`tä klä`rä), city (1994 est. pop. 217,000), capital of Villa Clara prov., central Cuba.
, Calif. -- Magma[R] Design Automation Inc. (Nasdaq:LAVA), a provider of semiconductor design software, today announced Stefan Hamacher of Infineon Technologies For the raceway, see .

Infineon Technologies AG (ISIN: DE0006231004, FWB: IFX, NYSE: IFX) was founded in April 1999 when the semiconductor operations of parent company, Siemens AG, were spun off to form a separate legal entity.
has been named International Chairman of Magma's MUSIC users conference. Hamacher, director of Central Design Flow Development at Infineon Technologies, will oversee the Program Coordination Committee and conference program for the Silicon Valley edition of MUSIC (Magma Users Summit on Integrated Circuits Integrated circuits

Miniature electronic circuits produced within and upon a single semiconductor crystal, usually silicon. Integrated circuits range in complexity from simple logic circuits and amplifiers, about 1/20 in. (1.
). Scheduled for Feb. 28-Mar. 1, 2007 in Santa Clara, the conference will feature user papers, tutorials, panels, a partners' fair and keynote addresses. Paper abstracts are being accepted through Dec. 15.

Hamacher has been using Magma software for seven years to develop most of Infineon's challenging communication chips. Most recently he used Magma's Blast Fusion[R] to successfully tape out a 90-nm chip, the SGOLD3 design. Embedded in the Infineon IC design flow, Blast Fusion enabled the integration of low-power features, and with its reliable results helped meet the time-to-market window.

"I believe that user conferences provide an invaluable opportunity for design engineers to learn, share their knowledge and network," Hamacher said. "It is a pleasure to have the opportunity to work with the PCC PCC prothrombin complex concentrate.  to develop a technically rich program that will help other users better leverage the capabilities of the Magma software to deliver advanced designs."

Call for Papers

Magma users are invited to submit 25-minute technical paper/presentations discussing their experience in design success, design methods, tool experiences, tool integration, conversion from other tools and interoperability with multi-vendor tools. Authors may submit papers on ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) Pronounced "a-sick." A chip that is custom designed for a specific application rather than a general-purpose chip such as a microprocessor. , structured ASIC, ASSP (Application Specific Standard Part) An ASIC chip that is designed as a generic device for a particular market. Whereas an ASIC is typically used only by its creator, ASSPs are used by many different companies in the design of their products. See ASIC. , COT and FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) A type of gate array that is programmed in the field rather than in a semiconductor fab. Containing up to hundreds of thousands of gates, there are a variety of FPGA architectures on the market.  design flows. All entries are eligible for the MUSIC "Best Paper" award. The top two papers will receive awards of $1,000 and $500. Deadlines and important dates are:
     Abstract Due Dec. 15, 2006
Notification of Acceptance Jan. 15, 2007
Final Paper Due Feb. 16, 2007

About MUSIC

MUSIC - Magma Users Summit on Integrated Circuits - provides a forum for Magma users to exchange ideas, discuss common problems and explore solutions related to the design and manufacturing of integrated circuits, as well as offering users an opportunity to meet with Magma staff and product experts. The MUSIC program covers the key elements of semiconductor design, from system-level design to tape-out, for systems on chips, ASICs, structured ASICs, ASSPs and FPGAs. Magma users can register to attend any of the conferences via the Magma website at www.magma-da.com/MUSIC.

Magma's EDA (1) (Electronic Design Automation) Using the computer to design, lay out, verify and simulate the performance of electronic circuits on a chip or printed circuit board. , IP, foundry and ASIC partners will also showcase their solutions and interoperability with Magma's software at MUSIC conferences. Magma users will see how other designers have achieved their design goals with a complete methodology that includes products from Magma's RTL-to-GDSII technology and complementary tools and technologies from Magma's partners.

About Magma

Magma's software for integrated circuit (IC) design is recognized as embodying the best in semiconductor technology. The world's top chip companies use Magma's EDA software to design and verify complex, high-performance ICs for communications, computing, consumer electronics and networking applications, while at the same time reducing design time and costs. Magma provides software for IC implementation, analysis, physical verification, characterization and programmable logic design, and the company's integrated RTL-to-GDSII design flow offers "The Fastest Path from RTL (Register Transfer Level) A high-level hardware description language (HDL) for defining digital circuits. The circuits are described as a collection of registers, Boolean equations, control logic such as "if-then-else" statements as well as complex event sequences;  to Silicon"(TM). Magma is headquartered in Santa Clara, Calif. with offices around the world. Magma's stock trades on Nasdaq under the ticker symbol Ticker Symbol
