Inet Technologies Names New Board Member.

Inet Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:INTI), a leading global provider of communications software solutions for next-generation networks, today announced the appointment of Dr. George H. Heilmeier to its board of directors. Heilmeier was elected by the Board on July 26, 2001. This appointment raises the number of Inet board members to seven.

Dr. Heilmeier is chairman emeritus of Telcordia Technologies (formerly Bellcore), a leading provider of communications software and professional services. Prior to his retirement in November 1997, he was chairman and chief executive officer. Dr. Heilmeier joined Bellcore in March 1991 as its president and chief executive officer. Prior to joining Bellcore, he was senior vice president and chief technical officer of Texas Instruments, Inc. Before joining Texas Instruments, he was director of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).

Dr. Heilmeier is a member of the Defense Science Board and the National Security Agency Advisory Board. He serves on the Boards of Directors of TRW, Compaq Computer Corporation, Teletech Holdings and Automatic Data Processing (ADP) Corp. He is also a member of the National Academy of Engineering, the General Motors Science Advisory Committee and the University of Pennsylvania Visiting Committee and a Fellow of the IEEE. He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and M.A., M.S.E., and Ph.D. degrees in solid-state electronics from Princeton University. Among his many honors is the Japan Prize in Computing and Communications and the National Medal of Science.
