Industry feeds the hungry.


City Harvest honored the real estate industry's Square Feet to Square Meals program with its "Heart of the City" award at its eleventh annual Practical Magic Ball on April 6. The benefit was attended by more than 600 guests and raised more than $1.17 million, exceeding the original fundraising goal by nearly $600,000.

. Commercial landlords and brokerage firms have pledged to City Harvest $0.005 per s/f of space leased or sold during the year. The Square Feet to Square Meals campaign has raised more than $125,000 and expects to bring in an additional $35,000 in the coming months.

"Thanks to the hard work and generosity of the Square Feet to Square Meals Committee, hunger is a more visible issue." said Jennifer Ott, of City Harvest.

Established in 1994, the Practical Magic Ball was designed to raise awareness and much needed funds to help feed hungry men, women and children in New York City.
