Industry Leaders to Examine the Future of TVs, DVDs and HD Content at the Upcoming 9th Annual DisplaySearch US FPD Conference.

, will then discuss his view of the US HDTV (High Definition TV) A set of digital television (DTV) standards that offer the highest resolution and sharpest picture. Although some HDTV sets are available in standard (rather square) screen sizes, the overwhelming majority of sets are wide screen, which eliminates  marketplace with a focus on market drivers in the LCD and microdisplay categories. Sony was #1 in US TV revenues in 2006 including leadership in both LCD and microdisplay TV revenues in the US and worldwide. He will also discuss which powerful trends are going to move the industry in 2007 and how some of the high visibility format and technology battles could shake out.

Jeff Cove, VP of Technology and Alliances at Panasonic Corp. of North America, will present Panasonic's view of the US TV market including the outlook for plasma TVs where Panasonic is #1 in the US and worldwide. He will also discuss future advancements expected in plasma TVs along with Panasonic's commitment to leadership in plasma manufacturing.

Jim Sanduski, VP and GM of HP's Digital TV global business unit, will look beyond the HD transition to the home connectivity transition where the TV becomes a gateway to connecting both to the internet and to consumers' rapidly expanding collection of digital photos, videos and music stored on PCs and other digital devices within the home.

Leslie Chard, President of HDMI Licensing, will discuss the opportunities and challenges for marketing the latest innovations enabled by HDMI 1.3 including Deep Color, xvYCC, increased frame rates, lossless See lossless compression.

Executives from the top two LCD TV panel suppliers -- Brian Berkeley, VP of Advanced Technology from Samsung Electronics' LCD Business, and DS Lee, Chief Research Engineer from LG.Philips LCD's LCD R&D Center -- will discuss the improvements expected in the latest and future generation of LCD TV panels such as reduced motion blur, more colors, wider color gamut, improved black levels and improved contrast.

This session will then conclude with DisplaySearch's TV market and technology outlook.

The HD content session will start with a talk and video from Bryan Burns, ESPN VP of Strategic Business Planning and Development, who will stress the importance of content, the evolution of ESPN's HD offerings and the future of its HD content.

DisplaySearch's Ross Young will discuss the current status and outlook for network HD programming, HD service and household adoption, the US DVD player market and the latest HD-DVD HD-DVD High Definition Digital Versatile Disk  and Blu-ray sell-through results.

He will discuss where things stand, what is riding on the outcome, the studios' perspective, the gamers' perspective and what can win it for either party.

Andy Parsons, SVP of Pioneer's New Product Development and Technical Support as well as the Chairman of the Blu-ray Disc Association's US Promotion Committee, will provide a brief overview of the format including key features along with a market update and forecasts for growth potential.

Mark Waring, Director of Sanyo's Technology Center, will provide an overview and update on the latest status and developments of HD DVD, the latest rollout of hardware devices covering home players, PC drives and gaming consoles, as well as movie titles. He will also discuss emerging capabilities including networking, additional download options and even greater interactivity.

Russ Crupnick, VP and Senior Industry Analyst at The NPD Group, will present the consumer viewpoint.
