WHAT: The United States will host the 12th World Congress on
Intelligent Transport Systems in San Francisco with industry
leaders showcasing groundbreaking wireless communications
development work. The Dedicated Short-Range Communications
(DSRC) Industry Consortium, just 17 months after it agreed to
band together to complete the standards and build prototypes
under contract to the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT),
will unveil a critical milestone in the envisioned
vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-roadside communications
system, expected to dramatically alter the scope of safety
services provided to motorists.
