Industrial espionage incident revealed involving BAe and Airbus Industrie.

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2000 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

A feat of industrial espionage has come to light involving British Aerospace (BAe) and European aircraft manufacturer Airbus Industrie.

During a meeting earlier in 1999 between at least four BAe executives and Airbus Industry representatives, French secret service agents apparently raided the hotel rooms of the BAe representatives and stole certain documents.

However, the Airbus team were apparently so embarrassed by the theft that they returned photocopies of the documents to BAe during one of their meetings.

The raid is apparently just one among many raids against British and American defence and business intelligence firms according to the Sunday Times.
