Indo Pacific Resources Ltd. Reports Progress on Dawa Dawa, New Hanover, Ambunti and Sumwari Exploration Licenses.

PORT MORESBY, Papua New Guinea--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 25, 1997-- Indo Pacific(Alberta Stock Exchange IPF.) Indo Pacific Resources Ltd. (IPF.ASE) is pleased to provide the following update on its Dawa Dawa, New Hanover, Ambunti and Sumwari license exploration programs.

DAWA DAWA

A major area of gold mineralization in weathered bedrock, 70 metres wide by 150 metres in length and open in each direction, has been outlined at the Mount Haluba prospect by over 100 bench channel samples. The 5 metre length samples were taken from a series of hand dug trenches first excavated by the prior license holder, Highlands Gold Limited. The anomaly is outlined by the 0.25 g/t gold contour, with more than 50 percent of the area lying inside the 1.0 g/t gold contour with values up to 4.0 g/t gold. The mineralization is hosted in a swarm of narrow, strongly altered, monzonite dykes each several metres wide and in related quartz veins. Bulldozing will be undertaken on this prospect to extend the mineralization as well as to prepare drill pads.

On the Ulo Ulo prospect, three adits in the old mine have been channel sampled to test for gold mineralization away from the high grade veins mined pre-World War II. Prior mining had been undertaken in the uppermost weathering zone, approximately 20 metres from surface, with average reported recoveries of one ounce per tonne. Soil sampling conducted over the Ulo Ulo prospect by Amax in 1982, with samples taken on a 50 metre grid, indicated a northeast-southwest mineralized zone 400 metres long by 100 metres wide. Management believes that there may be a significant secondary gold enriched zone located within the upper zone and that this mineralization, taken with the Mount Haluba mineralization, could provide easy to mine, near surface reserves generating a significant and rapid cash flow.

NEW HANOVER

In early March an expatriate geologist accompanied by one of the Company' senior national geologists, spent two weeks laying the ground work for commencement of a major program on New Hanover island. Assay results from the various orientation samples collected during the survey will be received and reported shortly along with the Company's proposed work program.

AMBUNTI AND SUMWARI

Preparations are underway to commence exploration in late March on the Sumwari license and to resume exploration at the Ambunti license.
