* INDEPENDENCE HOLDING CO. has named DAVID KETTIG and SCOTT WOOD as co-chief operating officers
Chief Operating Officer (COO)
The officer of a firm responsible for day-to-day management, usually the president or an executive vice-president.
. The appointments are simultaneous with the closing of Independence Holding's acquisition of Insurers Administration Corp.

Kettig will continue in his current posts as chief operating officer of American Independence Corp. and as chief administrative officer of Standard Security Life Insurance Company of New York.

Wood has been chief operating officer of Insurers Administration since 1998 and will be president and chief executive officer of the company.
