InPower, Inc. (InPower) today announced general availability of the Release 3.4 upgrade to the InPower Series strategic HR product suite.

The new release started shipping Oct. 31 on the following platforms: Windows NT (Windows New Technology) A 32-bit operating system from Microsoft for Intel x86 CPUs. NT is the core technology in Windows 2000 and Windows XP (see Windows). Available in separate client and server versions, it includes built-in networking and preemptive multitasking. , HP/UX HP/UX Hewlett-Packard UNIX operating system

The Java-enabled employee self-service application A software application that allows a user to obtain information or complete a business transaction on the computer that has traditionally required the help of a human representative. The Java execution environment is based on KIVA kiva (kē`və), large, underground ceremonial chamber, peculiar to the ancient and modern Pueblo. The modern kiva probably evolved from the slab houses (i.e.  Enterprise Server technology licensed from KIVA Software (See InPower, Inc. and KIVA Software Corporation Announce Partnership Agreement, June 3, 1997). A sample of the events supported include: changes in home address, W-4s, emergency contacts, paycheck instructions, health benefits and dependents, life insurance and beneficiaries, and personal identification numbers (PIN).

KSAOC KSAOC Knowledge Skills Abilities and Other Characteristics  (knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics) management enhancements, which facilitate competency-based deployment activities, have also been added. These will allow for easier KSAOC classification, and include: KSAOC management by Business Unit, Person and Position; `gap report' generation (between a person's KSAOC and those required by a position); list of training and development opportunities by KSAOC; and, potential candidate selection by KSAOC.

Additional features of the new release include one-stop employee enrollment into compensation programs, and the support of Crystal Reports Pro 5.0.
