For Labor Day Labor Day, holiday celebrated in the United States and Canada on the first Monday in September to honor the laborer. It was inaugurated by the Knights of Labor in 1882 and made a national holiday by the U.S. Congress in 1894. , a timely observation from great English spirituality writer Evelyn Underhill Evelyn Underhill (December 6, 1875 – June 15, 1941) was an English author, an Anglo-Catholic, well known for her numerous writings on Christian mysticism and religious practice. : "Have you ever noticed that Jesus is never recorded as taking a holiday? He retired for the purpose of his mission, not from it. He was never destroyed by his work; he was always on top of it.

"He moved among people as the master of every situation. He was busier than anyone; the multitudes were always at him, yet he had time for everything and everyone. He was never hurried hur·ried
