This is higher than the average growth in electricity demand in Spain, thanks to ENDESA's broad and solid customer base - nearly eleven million clients - and rising demand in its core geographical markets, where demand tends to be higher than elsewhere. The biggest rise in demand was in Aragon, up by 21.7%, compared to 6% in Andalusia and Extremadura and 1% in Catalonia. Growth in the Islands was also strong, with sales up by 7% in the Baleares and 9% in the Canaries. Sales in the deregulated Spanish market performed especially well, rising by 21% to 14,500 GWh.
