He recently finished a doctoral thesis that uses scripture and biblical translations to argue that Jesus and three or four of his chosen disciples were gay.

The two works have drawn swift criticism from conservative biblical scholars. "The idea that Jesus was a homosexual or engaged in homosexual acts is complete nonsense," scoffed prominent Presbyterian theologian Robert A.J. Gagnon, in reference to Jennings's book.
