IN OTHER METSO NEWS: Dongguan Jianhui Paper Co. Ltd. (Dongguan Jianhui), Dongguan City, Guangdong, China, has ordered a paperboard line from Metso Paper and its Chinese joint venture company Valmet-Xian. The EUR 30 million (US$ 36.7 million) project will produce high quality recycled coated board. Scheduled for August 2005 startup, the new line will be 4.5 meters wide with a running speed of 600 meters per minute producing coated recycled five-ply board grades duplex and triplex in the basis weight range of 250-450 g/[m.sup.2]. Annual production capacity will be approximately 300,000 metric tons.

Metso Paper, Inc. has bought in accordance with an earlier-made agreement 10% of the shares of Millidyne Oy, Tampere, Finland The acquisition is part of the development of the life cycle support concept and supports Metso Paper's aim to expand its scope in high-technology materials know-how.

For several years, the service business line of Metso Paper has performed cooperative research and development with Millidyne. Besides the acquisition, Metso Paper Service has worked with Millidyne Oy on a joint investment in materials technology equipment that allows Metso Paper to provide its customers with the roll products that address specific needs.
