In memoriam.Robert K. Fensler Sr., 81, retired Pres of Nebraska Farmer. Graduate of the University of Nebraska. U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, World War II. Ed Slusarczyk, 84, founder and Pres of Ag Radio Network Inc., Utica, NY, died from a brain tumor. He graduated from Holland Patent Central School in 1940, and with World War II already underway, he volunteered for the Army. He survived the D-Day invasion but his left leg was shattered in the Battle of St. Lo. Snipers also shot him on both sides of his body, shattering ribs. He received his bachelor's degree at Cornell University in three years, majoring in agricultural economics and graduating in 1949. He lost a 1960 Congressional election and wrote agricultural speeches for John F. Kennedy during his presidential campaign and while he was in office. He also worked extensively with the Polish Solidarity movement to help bring democracy to Poland. |
