In memoriam.Bernard Barnett, CPA (Computer Press Association, Landing, NJ) An earlier membership organization founded in 1983 that promoted excellence in computer journalism. Its annual awards honored outstanding examples in print, broadcast and electronic media. The CPA disbanded in 2000. , a long-time member of the AICPA's Tax Section and founding member of the Editorial Board of The Tax Adviser, died on July 2, 2005, at age 84. A former National Director of Tax Practice at BDO Seidman in New York, Mr. Barnett was an AICPA AICPA See American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Tax Division leader, and past member of its Tax Executive Committee. From 1976-1977, he served as the president of the New York State Society of CPAs. In 1984, he received the Arthur J. Dixon Arthur J. Dixon (born: December 1, 1919 - died: February 5, 2007) was a former member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta and a real estate agent. Dixon first got involved in politics running in the 1949 Canadian Federal Election and again in a 1951 by-election for the Memorial Award for outstanding service to the profession. In addition to serving on various AICPA committees, he was also a leading presenter on CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) Communications equipment that resides on the customer's premises. CPE - Customer Premises Equipment estate and trust tax issues. Mr. Barnett had travelled the world extensively. He was a great gentleman who helped shape the Tax Division, The Tax Adviser and the profession, and will be dearly missed. |
