A brain tumor is an abnormal growth of tissue in the brain. Unlike other tumors, brain tumors spread by local extension and rarely metastasize (spread) outside the brain.

He graduated from Holland Patent Central School in 1940, and with World War II already underway, he volunteered for the Army. He survived the D-Day invasion but his left leg was shattered in the Battle of St. Lo. Snipers also shot him on both sides of his body, shattering ribs.

He received his bachelor's degree at Cornell University Cornell University, mainly at Ithaca, N.Y.; with land-grant, state, and private support; coeducational; chartered 1865, opened 1868. It was named for Ezra Cornell, who donated $500,000 and a tract of land. With the help of state senator Andrew D.  in three years, majoring in agricultural economics Agricultural economics originally applied the principles of economics to the production of crops and livestock - a discipline known as agronomics. Agronomics was a branch of economics that specifically dealt with land usage.  and graduating in 1949. He lost a 1960 Congressional election and wrote agricultural speeches for John F.
