As well as Emalit Contrast, the firm offers Emalit Permawall: a process by which single solid colours can be applied to clear or tinted glass; Emalit Structure: a new range of eight standard simulated marble finishes; and Emalit Design: whereby special designs can be produced. All these processes, involving powdered glass being melted and fused into the surface of glass, fix colour permanently so that it will not fade. Emalit is scratch and corrosion-resistant and will withstand frequent cleaning.

Milan furniture fair 1994

Before going to the Milan Furniture Fair it was hard to imagine why anyone would want another chair, but this year's Fair persuaded one otherwise.

In spite of (but perhaps because of), the restraining effects of the recession, the Milan Furniture Fair produced some of the lightest furniture, visually and spiritually, to have been seen for some time. Colours were jewel-like; forms and structures often pared down to the minimum with great ingenuity and joie d'esprit. There was some evidence of ecological awareness; some pains were taken to emphasise sustainable sources where wood was used.
