Before joining NRPA, he was most recently director of the Forest, Wildlife and Heritage Service for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources The Maryland Department of Natural Resources is a Government agency in the state of Maryland charged with maintaining natural resources such as state parks, public lands, state forests, and recreation areas. . His professional background also includes a long tenure with the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) is bi-county agency that administers parks and planning in Montgomery and Prince George's Counties in Maryland. It was formed in 1927 by the Maryland General Assembly. ; among his positions there was chief of the Natural and Historical Resources Division. His dedication to natural history, preserving wildlife and the vitality of our ecosystem is a constant theme in every aspect of Iris career. Rich has been widely published, including in National Geographic magazine.
