   Die mot se kus--eerst'!
   Soen my, asof jy skaars kan glo
   Dat dit gebeur, hierdie aand, so:
   Hoe my gesig, jou blom, vireers
   Die blomkop toehou; jy hier, daar
   My aanraak totdat ek gewaar
   Toe my begeer, en dan wyd oopbeur.

   Die by se soen--met gejuig!
   Soen my, asof op 'n vrolik' middaguur
   Jy instap by my hart-se-deur:
   'n Knop wat maar te gewillig neig
   En afstand doen, van eie reg,
   En oopbars sonder t'rug te veg
   As oor jou indom'lend' hoof ek buig ...
