Improved labelling for homeopathic medicines.

A SCHEME aimed at improving the labelling of homeopathic medicines in the UK was introduced by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA)yesterday

The MHRA hopes its National Rules Scheme for homeopathic medicines will increase consumer confidence through better packaging.

Companies will be allowed to include information about the treatment and relief of minor conditions "based on the use of the product within the homeopathic tradition".

This means companies can rely on the historical benefits of a medicine, rather than having to prove its effectiveness in clinical trials.

Products will also have patient information leaflets.
