Improved LCP boosts connector performance.

A new liquid-crystal polymer from DuPont Engineering Polymers, Wilmington, Del., reportedly improves the strength and precision of electronic connectors. In destructive tests, new Zenite 6130LX is said to improve breakage resistance by 21% and deflection prior to fracture by 32% as compared with previous Zenite LCPs that it would replace. The result is superior resistance to damage during insertion into sockets and circuit boards.

DuPont also claims improved knit-line strength that virtually eliminates micro-cracking problems. In addition, out-of-plane warpage is notably reduced. Temperature resistance of the grade is 536 F, or somewhat higher than for a conventional LCP (Link Control Protocol) See PPP.
